An independent guide to SynthID
SynthID Detector (synthiddetector.app) is an independent site that explains Google DeepMind's SynthID watermark and helps you check where an image, video or audio file came from. It is not a Google product, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or Google DeepMind. SynthID is a trademark of Google LLC.
What the checker does
The checker on the homepage reads the provenance a file declares about itself: C2PA Content Credentials and the company that signed them, the IPTC digital source type, labels such as "Made with Google AI", and the tags that generators like Midjourney or Stable Diffusion write into their output. It runs entirely in your browser. The file is not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
What it does not do
The checker does not read the SynthID watermark itself. Google has not released a public API for SynthID detection, so no third-party site can read the watermark directly. For the watermark, use Google's official SynthID Detector at synthid.com or the Gemini app; the homepage explains how to run that check and how to read the result.
